Neurolinguistic Programming
A brief history
NLP for short was co-created by Richard Bandler and linguist John Grinder in the 1970s. The initial focus was pragmatic, modeling three successful psychotherapists, Fritz Perls (Gestalt Therapy), Virginia Satir (Family Systems Therapy), and eventually Milton H. Erickson (Clinical Hypnosis), with the aim of discovering what made these individuals more successful than their peers.
Where it can be used
I tend to like to encorporate it into my other therapies particularly hypnotherapy but using NLP alone can be extremely enpowering. Everyone has all resources they need to make positive changes, as an NLP practititioner I can help the client to release this.
NLP Therapy can also be content free - this means the therapist can be effective without knowing about the problem in great detail. Clearly this is a major advantage of NLP over traditional therapies as people seeking therapy may be embarrassed about the idea of discussing personal issues one to one with a stranger. The very nature of NLP removes this hindrance.
NLP can help with:-
. Fears and phobias
. Emotional problems
. Increased performance
. Stress release
. Weight control
